Emil Rockov signs for Vidi

We are delighted to announce another new signing of the summer. Serbian goalkeeper Emil Rockov has signed a contract with our club.

Emil Rockov was born in Novi Sad on the 27th January 1995. He started playing for Bolesnikov Academy from the age of 9 before signing for the youth team of Vojvodina in 2006. He went on to sign his first professional contract with Vojvodina at the age of 18. However, his first period saw him link up with Sloga Temerin and then Proleter Novi Sad on loan. The latter club went on to sign him in 2016 but he would return again to FK Vojvodina in the winter transfer window of the 2016/17 season. 

The past three and a half years has seen him make 114 appearances in the Serbian first division. There were an additional 11 in the Serbian Cup and a further 2 in EL qualifiers. His team won the Serbian Cup in June after beating Partizan Belgrade 6-4 in a penalty shootout. He was also chosen as the best player for Vojvodina based on InStat analysis. 

Emil Rockov has kept 45 clean sheets in his 114 Serbian first division matches. He also made his debut for the Serbian national team last autumn in a game, which Serbia won 1-0 against Paraguay. 

"If we would talk about good performances over the last few years or even seasons, then the performances of Adam Kovacsik and our other keepers like Daniel Kovacs, Bence Gundel-Takacs have also worked really well. When our keepers were given the chance - Bence with the second team in the NB III and Dani in the league, proved that they can be counted on. Bence Gundel-Takacs will spend next season on loan playing at a higher level for his own development. Emil Rockov has the qualities and the mentality that I am sure will motivate our goalkeepers to work even better. With his arrival, we can further raise the otherwise high level" - said Zoltan Kovacs.
