Transfer News: Kevin Csoboth signs for Vidi

The youngster was most recently with Benfica.

The agreement between Benfica and our club, will see Kevin Csoboth continue his career with MOL Fehérvár FC! The 21-year-old winger was born in Pécs on the 20th June 2000, his father, Róbert Csoboth, was a former Hungarian U20 national team player.

Kevin started his career at Pécsi Góliát and continued at PMFC, scoring 77 goals in one season in the U13 championship. He then spent a year playing football in Fehérvár, where his teammates included the Tóth-twins Attila and Bence, who are currently playing for Vidi II, and national team player Dominik Szoboszlai. A season in Fehérvár was followed by a year in the capital (FTC U16 - 15 games, 30 goals), and his next game was played in the legendary red and white kit of Benfica, who signed him in the summer of 2016. Our new signing also played in 18 league games for Benfica B in the second division of the Lucian league, where he scored 2 goals and 2 assists.

The young striker has of course been a constant member of the youth national teams, and according to mlsz.hu he has scored 10 goals in 30 games in the national youth team, including the 2017 U17 European Championship.

“An important part of our medium-term strategy is to attract Hungarian youth national team players to the club, who we can build up and whose play can be a great joy for Vidi fans. We also think it's important to have a good Hungarian-foreign ratio in our squad, and we need youngsters for that too. Kevin is one of the biggest talents of his age, I followed him through his years with Benfica. I've been telling him for two years to come back to Hungary and show himself in the senior game. Although I think it's a big loss to have missed these two years, I believe in young Hungarians and that if given the chance, they will do their best. Here at Vidi, Kevin has every opportunity to prove that it was no coincidence that the professionals predicted a good career for him as a youngster." - said our sporting director István Sallói about our latest signing

“I'm happy to be a Vidi player, I would like to become a regular in the team and fight for titles in the red and blue! I think that during the five seasons I spent at Benfica, I made a lot of mental progress, and I will try to use that and all the experience I gained there in the Hungarian top flight. As a winger, I can be counted on by the coaching staff on both wings and I hope to contribute as many goals and assists as possible. I know several people from the dressing room, for example Norbi Szendrei was a teammate of mine, and I also know Palko Dárdai and Olviér Tamás, but not only them, everyone has been welcoming.” - said Kevin Csoboth after the signing of the contract.
