The eight-time Hungarian national team winger will continue his career in Fehérvár!
An agreement between FC Dallas and our club on Friday means Szabolcs Schön will continue his career with MOL Fehérvár FC!
The eight-time Hungarian national team player was born on 27th September 2000, he learned the basics of football in Kispest (he scored 350 goals between 2010 and 2016 according to the MLSZ database!) and then moved to the youth team of the world famous Ajax. He scored three goals and provided seven assists in 36 games for the Dutch youth team, and also played in the Youth Champions League. At the beginning of 2019, he joined MTK, where he scored 16 goals and gave 11 assists in 62 games over two and a half seasons. For the past year and a half, he has played for FC Dallas in the American top flight, with 7 assists in 26 games.
He has been a consistent member of the Hungarian youth national team, playing in the U17 European Championship, and has made his senior debut under Marco Rossi ahead of the 2021 tournament. At EURO 2020, he appeared in two matches, scoring a memorable goal against Portugal, and in total, despite his youth, he has already worn the national shirt eight times.
"I have spoken to several Vidi players and staff members recently and I have heard only positive things about the club. I'm motivated to play football in the NB I again, I want to get a lot of playing opportunities. I know Attila Fiola and Loic Nego well from the national team, I've been in contact with them so far and this will also help me to settle in. I would like to start training quickly and make my debut in a Vidi shirt as soon as possible!" said Szabolcs Schön after signing the contract.
"We wanted to sign Szabolcs Schön for a long time, but negotiations have now been completed. We are very happy that we have finally reached an agreement with FC Dallas. We consider Szabolcs to be a very valuable player, and he is also a national team player, which will further increase the Hungarian contingent at Vidi. Another important aspect is that Michael Boris knows Szabi very well when they worked together at MTK. His arrival has also increased the variation possibilities of our head coach for the future" - said István Sallói, our sporting director, about our new signing.
Schön will be wearing the Vidi 7 shirt, his contract is valid until 30 June 2025.
