Mátyás Katona will continue his career in Vidi!

According to the agreement between MOL Fehérvár FC and Újpest FC on Tuesday, Mátyás Katona will continue his career in our team.

Katona, who can play as an attacking midfielder and on both wings of midfield, was born on the 30th December 1999 in Budapest. The 173 centimetre tall player played for Vasas, Hidegkúti SC and UFC III. Kerületi, before being signed by Újpest in 2018. After playing for the U19 and second team, he made thirteen appearances on loan at second division Vác, before returning to Újpest to make his debut in the NB I on 20th June 2020. He played seven league games in the 2020/2021 season and 25 in the 2021/2022 season, and has made 18 appearances in the current season.

In the OTP Bank League he has 7 goals and 2 assists in 52 games. In May 2021 he won the MOL Hungarian Cup with Újpest, and in the summer he played in three UEFA Europa League qualifiers. His brother is Bálint Katona, who also plays for Kecskemét.
